Toni Jackson | Counselling & Psychotherapy for Women and Adolescents

Toni Jackson

Hello!  Following is a little bit of information about who I am.

In addition to being a mother, artist and intrepid traveller, I have worked over the past 20 years in the areas of women and adolescent mental health and wellbeing. I specialise in working with women experiencing stress, anxiety, burnout and depression. My other area of expertise is in working with young people (10yrs and up) who are struggling with anxiety, self esteem and self identity – including disordered eating, self harm, gender identity and sexuality.  I have a deep compassion for these particular struggles and have dedicated most of my career to supporting young women in particular, in empowering themselves.

I have qualifications in Psychology, Women’s Studies and Psychotherapy. In the past, I have worked in a Women’s Refuge with women and children escaping domestic violence; in a dynamic and creative Youth Centre; as a Senior Drug & Alcohol Counsellor; in a specialist position created from the Gordon Inquiry, working with young people and their families; and as a counsellor for women and adolescents.  I have also worked on numerous community arts and therapeutic arts projects.

I am very passionate about the concept of Self Care. I’m interested in the ways we do and don’t allow ourselves to be nurtured – through both our thoughts and actions. Often when we are struggling, and most in need of self compassion, it is the very time we choose to be hardest on ourselves.

I love to run, cycle, kayak, read and be creative.
